Aaron Ramsdale signs new long-term Arsenal contract

Arsenal have confirmed Aaron Ramsdale has signed a new long-term contract with the club. The England international joined the Gunners from Sheffield United two years ago and has become one of the Premier League’s top goalkeepers during his 76 appearances in all competitions for the north London outfit.

90min previously revealed that Ramsdale had been in talks with Arsenal over extending his contract, with the hope of finalising an agreement by the end of May, and the club have confirmed that the deal is done.

Ramsdale’s new Arsenal contract will run until 2026, with the option of an extra year, and he told the club’s website: “It’s a huge amount of pride, it’s something you work for. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been at the club for a month or for four years, you always want to get the next one and push on with the team.

“To get it after two years, I’m buzzing. It just means I can concentrate and keep my head down, and hopefully after a few more years I’ll get another one and carry on living the dream at the football club.”

Ramsdale quickly usurped Bernd Leno as the club’s starting goalkeeper upon arrival and was a key part of Arsenal’s title charge this season, making eye-catching saves regularly and keeping 13 Premier League clean sheets so far.

He has developed at a fast rate at Arsenal, alongside young stars in the making like Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli.
